History and Background
- The building was constructed between 1980 and 1983.
- The land and buildings belong to the Taichung City Government.
- The hospital is managed by Chung Shan Medical University.
- The hospital started to provide service in October 1989.
Medical Services
- This District provided inpatient service of 70 beds for physically disabled patients, and 16 outpatient clinics per week. At each day, around 80 patients visit the OPD clinics and 460 sessions of therapy are conducted.
- Outreach services are provided regularly for environmental modifications, application of assistive devices, and rehabilitation therapy if necessary.
- Psychiatric department provides inpatient service of 29 beds for mentally disabled
patients , 5 outpatient clinics per week, and day care for 50 patients. Around 300 patients visit the OPD clinics per month.
Facilities and Staff
- In medical team ,there are 6 attending physicians and 7 residents in rehabilitation department, 5 attending physicians and 5 residents in psychiatry department, and 1 attending physician in dentistry department.
- In therapeutic team, there are 20 physical therapists, 16 occupational therapists, 5
speech therapists, 1 psychologist, 3 prosthetics & orthotists, 4 assistive technology practitioners, and 3 social workers.
- In central Taiwan, Tai - Yuan District is the only hospital that has its own prosthetic & orthotic department and assistive technology center.
